American
homeowners and homebuyers have rated exterior wood decks as the most
desired and enjoyed outdoor feature of their homes. However, wood decks
are not living up to their potential lifespan because of a lack of basic
maintenance, which leads to premature damage from dry rot. The primary
cause of dry rot in decks is wet organic debris trapped between the
surface boards. A deck filled with wet organic debris mimics the dry
rot fungus' niche in the natural ecosystem: living on fallen wood on
the forest floor. Clear The Deck Tool Company's unique new DECKHAND
is the only tool developed specifically to aid in the maintenance of
a deck's appearance and to help prevent the growth of destructive dry
rot by removing this debris in a safe, fast, and easy manner.
The patented
DECKHAND is a high quality tool originally designed and built for heavy
duty commercial use. The specially shaped tool head is stainless steel
for toughness and corrosion resistance. The nose piece which glides
along the deck surface is molded from a high-tech engineering polymer.
All the handles are high strength aluminum tubing with a super durable
heat-fused enamel finish. The tool head and the nose piece are through-riveted
to the handle with stainless steel rivets to form a super-strong assembly.
And only the DECKHAND has the patented feature of Constant Depth
Control: this enables the tool to clean the whole depth of the gap
between the boards at whatever angle the handle is held, without contact
or interference with your deck's substructure!
The method
for using the DECKHAND deck cleaning tool is similar to using a pushbroom.
Another great feature of the tool is that it removes trapped debris
both by pushing foward and pulling back on the handle. The tool glides
back and forth nearly effortlessly and achieves fast results without
wasted motion. Pushing the DECKHAND foward will result in the debris
being moved downward and out of the gap, and pulling back will lift
out any stubborn deeply lodged debris. In fact, the DECKHAND is so effective
that it will easily pull out rocks which have been hammered down into
the gaps to far below the deck's surface!
While
the standard DECKHAND with its 54" handle was designed for ultra-fast
deck cleaning while standing, the DECKHAND is also available in two
additional handle lengths. The hand tool version with its 16" handle was
designed for use on stairways, benches, porches, balconies, and other
"close quarter" situations.
The DECKHAND
has been featured in top national magazines, radio, network television;
and has been recommended by deck refinishers and structural pest control
experts as the best tool the homeowner or professional can use for the
maintenance of architectural wood decks that are sited under all types
of landscape trees. The DECKHAND Deck Flosser has also been enthusiastically
endorsed by thousands of happy wood deck owners!
